CEREMONIAL PRESENTATION ..Title Proclamation of "KIM STEPHENS DAY" ..Body P R O C L A M A T I O N WHEREAS, Kim Stephens started her career in television news in 1988 after earning a degree in Telecommunications from Chico State and working in Bakersfield at KERO; and WHEREAS, at KERO in Bakersfield, Kim Stephens worked her way up in the organization from morning anchor and reporter, to weekend anchor and producer, and finally to weeknight anchor and reporter, all while working a second job during the day; and WHEREAS, Kim Stephens relocated to Tennessee, anchoring at WBIR and WVLT in Knoxville, and also earned her Master's degree in Broadcast Management at the University of Tennessee; and WHEREAS, in 2000, Kim Stephens moved back to California to work as a technology and business reporter and weekend anchor at KNTV in San Jose; and WHEREAS, Kim Stephens now lives in Fresno and co-hosts KMPH's Great Day (for which she has been nominated for an Emmy), and serves on the Board of Governors for the National Association of Television Arts and Sciences; and WHEREAS, Kim Stephens is one of five inductees into this year's Silver Circle Class for her significant contribution to Northern California television. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that we, Mayor Ashley Swearengin and Fresno City Council Members, do hereby proclaim December 18th, 2014 to be: "Kim Stephens Day" in the City of Fresno. We congratulate you on your award and thank you for the years you have dedicated to high-quality journalism in Fresno and Northern California.
