REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: JERRY DYER, Mayor Office of Mayor & City Manager BY: MATTHEW GRUNDY, Deputy Mayor Office of Mayor & City Manager CHRIS MONTELONGO, Deputy Chief of Staff Office of Mayor & City Manager SUBJECT ..Title Approve the Appointments of Todd Cregar (Resident of District 2) to the Civil Service Board, and Eduardo Leal (Resident of District 5) to the Mobile Home Rent Review and Stabilization Commission. Reappointments of Paul Bauer (Resident of District 6) to the Fresno Regional Workforce Development Board, and Don Priest (Resident of District 1) to the Community Media Access Collaborative. ..Body RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends approval. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The Civil Service Board currently has one vacancy. The Mayor's Office is providing the appointment of Todd Cregar (Resident of District 2) for approval. Mr. Cregar is a veteran, former law enforcement officer, and current business owner. Throughout his career, Mr. Cregar was able to navigate through personnel related matters successfully and objectively. The Mobile Home Rent Review and Stabilization Commission currently has four vacancies. The Mayor's Office is providing the appointment of Eduardo Leal (Resident of District 5) for approval. Mr. Leal is self-employed and has owned and managed several businesses in Fresno. Mr. Leal is an active and engaged resident located at The Willows of Santiago. The Mayor's Office is providing the reappointment of Paul Bauer (Resident of District 6) for approval to the Fresno Regional Workforce Development Board. Mr. Bauer has a legal background and would continue to serve as a private sector appointment. Mr. Bauer has been an engaged board member since 2009. He also serves on the Central California Employment Round Table. Mr. Bauer's ongoing commitment to mentoring youth and adults to overcome employment challenges and offer job training opportunities. The Mayor's Office is providing the reappointment of Don Priest (Resident of District 1) for approval to the Community Media Access Collaborative (CMAC). Mr. Priest was one of the "founders" of CMAC and longtime Professor at Fresno State's Department of Media, Communication and Journalism. Mr. Priest served as an original CMAC board member and later became an instructor to develop the curriculum and train community members on production equipment.
