BACKGROUND In April of 2016 the City of Fresno adopted an updated Housing Element. The Housing Element is a state-mandated planning document for housing. In response to comments from the California Department of Housing and Community Development, the City of Fresno has prepared a draft amendment to the adopted Housing Element. The draft amendment includes changes in three major areas: * Land for Housing * Mobile Home Park Conservation Program * Equitable Communities Program The public comment period for the Housing Element Amendment is December 13, 2016 - January 13, 2017. The purpose of this item is to introduce and describe the Housing Element Amendment at the beginning of the 30-day comment period to provide adequate time and background for public review.
