DONIS, Fire Chief Fire Department SUBJECT ..Title Award a purchase agreement between City of Fresno and Keller Motors for the purchase of five (5) Chevy Silverado Pickup trucks in the amount of $188,642.05 for the Fire Department's four new training officer positions and one new deputy chief position. ..Body RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends City Council award a purchase agreement between City of Fresno and Keller Motors for the purchase of five (5) Chevy Silverado 1500 Crew Cab 1/2 ton 4x4 pickup trucks to provide standard-equipped vehicles to four new training officers and one deputy chief. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The Fire Department completed a formal bid for the purchase five Chevy Silverado crew cab 4x4 standard box pickup trucks for $188,642.05. Keller Motors submitted the sole bid that met all specific requirements and within budgeted allocations. Approval of this agreement will fulfill the department's need to equip four new training officers and a deputy chief with pickup trucks standard for these positions. Council approved the new positions on December 17, 2015. BACKGROUND On December 17, 2015, the Fresno City Council approved nine new positions for the Fire Department, including one Deputy Chief, 3 Battalion Chiefs, four Training Officers, and an Equipment Service Worker. Funding for annual lease payments for fleet (trucks) was authorized at the time. The Fire Department concluded a formal bid process for five (5) Chevy Silverado 1500 4x4 crew cab pickup trucks for the newly added positions. Keller motors met all bid specifications and the Fire Department requests council's approval to award the contract. The purchase of this equipment is will be under a 5 year lease. ENVIRONMENTAL FINDINGS Not a project for the purposes of the California Environmental Quality Act. LOCAL PREFERENCE Local preference was not implemented because there was only one bidder. FISCAL IMPACT The annual lease payment will approximate $44,800 annually for five years and appropriated in the General Fund. Attachments
