DONIS, Fire Chief Fire Department SUBJECT ..Title ***RESOLUTION - 54th amendment to the Annual Appropriation Resolution (AAR) No. 2016-118 appropriating $15,000 for Fire Station #12 capital improvements (Requires 5 affirmative votes) ..Body RECOMMENDATION It is recommended Council approve the 54th amendment of the Annual Appropriation Resolution providing appropriations in the amount of $150,000 for needed capital improvements at Fire Station #12, located at 2874 W. Acacia, Fresno, CA. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The department is requesting funding to add a turnout room, exercise facility, and expand the captain's dorm to include office and meeting areas. The modifications will also include certain flooring changes and painting. Turnouts are basically a firefighter's suit worn at emergency scenes. Often times, turnouts are exposed to harmful contaminants. Having a separate room for turnouts would help prevent exposure while turnouts go through a decontamination process. BACKGROUND Fire Station 12 is in an Urban Growth Management (UGM) area and has accumulated UGM funds for capital expansion needs of the facility. The department identified certain capital /expansion needs that would provide for better office spacing, a meeting area, and a much needed separate turnout room to increase firefighter safety from contaminants. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT There are no environmental impacts resulting from this purchase or upgrade to our mobile radio devices. FISCAL IMPACT There will be no General Fund impact. All funding will be provided by UGM accumulated contributions that are slated for this type of capital expansion. Attachment: Resolution
