RESOLUTION - To Adopt an Updated Appointment Process for City of Fresno Boards and Commissions
..Body
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Council approve the updated appointment process for City Boards and Commissions.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The process that was approved in 2004 is outdated. Since 2004, technology has been implemented to assist in the recruitment and appointment process for the City's Boards and Commissions.
BACKGROUND
In January 2004, the City Council approved an appointment process and an application form for the City of Fresno Boards and Commissions. Since that time, the City Clerk's Office has implemented software to assist us in managing the City's 65 boards and commissions. The software allows citizens to complete an online application to apply for boards and commissions that they are interested in.
In addition, the process for appointing citizens to the various Boards and Commission has also changed. Exhibit A outlines the steps to take to appoint someone to a Board or Commission.
