REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL, SUCCESSOR AGENCY TO THE REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY OF FRESNO, AND THE FRESNO REVITALIZATION CORPORATION DATE: January 16, 2020 FROM: MARLENE MURPHEY, Executive Director SUBJECT ..Title Approve Legal Services Agreement between the Successor Agency to the Redevelopment Agency of the City of Fresno and the City of Fresno ..Body RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that City Council and Successor Agency approve the Legal Services Agreement in connection with defense of litigation related to disposition of Successor Agency real property. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The City of Fresno and the Successor Agency will incur legal expenses related to litigation concerning the disposition of Successor Agency real property. Pursuant to and in accordance with redevelopment dissolution law the proposed agreement engages the City to provide legal services to the Agency in connection with litigation for an amount up to $50,000. The Agency will list the agreement as an enforceable obligation for payment on the FY 20/21 Recognized Obligation Schedule that is subject to approval by the Countywide Oversight Board on January 23, 2020 and the Department of Finance (DOF) on February 1 2020. ENVIRONMENTAL FINDINGS N/A LOCAL PREFERENCE N/A FISCAL IMPACT Based upon its knowledge and expertise, the Office of the City Attorney is the most cost effective and efficient approach.
