RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended Council approve the 18th Amendment of the Annual Appropriation Resolution (AAR) 2021-178 appropriations in the amount of $1,073,100 to complete construction and finalize accounting of Fire Station 18 for Fiscal Year 2022.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Construction for Fire Station 18 was approved in Fiscal Year 2020. This is not a request for additional funding. The request is to re-appropriate the carryover of funds from Fiscal Year 2021 into Fiscal Year 2022 as the completion of this project has crossed into Fiscal Year 2022. Council previously approved $7,357,700, which included a 10% contingency, which is common with most construction contracts, The re-appropriation of carryover, $1,073,100 will allow all pending costs to paid and finalize the construction of Station 18 in Fiscal Year 2022.
BACKGROUND
Construction of Fire Station 18 commenced in late Fiscal Year 2020. It typically takes 9-12 months to construct a fire station. Due to certain delays in getting materials, construction also faced unforeseen delays. Certain appropriations, including those for Construction, and Construction Management expire at the end of each fiscal year. This construction project will continue into Fiscal Year 2022 and requires the re-appropriating the unused, previously approved appropriations for the completion of the new fire station.
Approval of this Amendment allows Construction Management to continue its oversight work and bill to this project accordingly through the completion of the construction of the station as well as process project change orders.
ENVIRONMENTAL FINDINGS
This item is not a project as defined by CEQA.
LOCAL PREFERENCE
Local preference was not implemented because this item is a re-appropriation of an existing project.
FISCAL IMPACT
There will be no net General Fund impact for the construction of Station 18
