REPORT TO THE CITY OF FRESNO YOUTH COMMISSION June 7, 2019 FROM: Jose Espinoza, Program Coordinator Youth Leadership Institute BY: Marco Martinez, Senior Deputy City Clerk City Clerk's Office SUBJECT ..Title Discussion and actions pertaining to California Senate Bill (SB) 58, which would allow California bars to serve alcohol until 4 A.M. ..Body RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the Youth Commission discuss and take action in regards to SB 58. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY N/A BACKGROUND SB 58 was re-introduced to the California Senate by State Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) and will be heard on May 16, 2019. SB 58 would extend the alcohol dispensing timeframe from 2 A.M. until 4 A.M. At the May 17, 2019 Fresno Youth Commission meeting, Youth Leadership Institute (YLI) Program Assistant Truong "Rich" Nguyen provided a summary in regards to the bill and urged the Commission to take action against SB 58. The Commission did not take a stance on the bill, and requested YLI to return with a presentation that clarified the bill. ENVIRONMENTAL FINDINGS N/A LOCAL PREFERENCE N/A FISCAL IMPACT N/A
