- Board Counsel, Dan McCloskey, was present and represented the Board. Acting Secretary Designee, Karnell Grijalva, was also present.
- Jennifer DeRuosi, Deputy City Attorney, was present on behalf of the Appointing Authority. The Appellant nor Representative was present. Due to family medical issue of the Appointing Authority Representative, Jennifer DeRuosi presented to the Board a Joint Stipulation and Order for Continuance with requested date of January 10, 2018 to continue the Hearing on Appeal. The Board approved.

- Members of the public may address the Civil Service Board regarding items that are not listed on the Agenda and within the subject matter jurisdiction of the Board. Each person is limited to a three (3) minute presentation. Board action on unscheduled items, if any, shall be limited to referring the item to staff for a report and possible scheduling on a future Civil Service Board agenda.

Accommodations & language access
Under California SB 707, agendas and participation instructions are published in every applicable language for the meeting, and free interpretation is provided at the meeting on request. Applicable languages currently include Spanish, Hmong, and Punjabi. Meeting disruption policy

Meetings are conducted so everyone — in the room and watching or calling in remotely — can take part. A person who disrupts a meeting in person may be removed after a warning. Under California SB 707, if a service disruption within the City’s control cuts off the public’s ability to participate remotely, the body takes no further action on agenda items and recesses for at least one hour while staff make a good-faith effort to restore access; the meeting resumes only once remote access is back.
